Hi, I just want to start with an intro!
Hello everyone,
I found this forum today via the retriever forum, (saw the link on your signature Canyon Labradors). So I thought since I have a chocolate show dog(puppy), I would love to be part of this forum!
Let's get to it! :
My name is Heather Luis, or Skywater Labradors, and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I got my first Lab, a chocolate in 1996, and never looked back! I first got involved in hunt tests and field bred labs, but a couple years ago I decided to add conformation to my list of tasks. I have a yellow one year old female, my first show dog, and then added my second, a 7 month old Chocolate boy! I am also hopefully adding a new chocolate baby girl in January.
I work fulltime, have a supportive husband, raise an 8 and 2 year old, and try to spend the rest of my spare time with the dogs, and all things Labrador related! I just recently showed my dogs for the first time in a specialty show at the HDLRC specialty. Before that I had been in one All Breed ring, and my co-owner showed my yellow girl before that!
I hope to keep moving forward and improve on all the things necessary to enjoy years of success with my dogs. I hope to meet lots of new people and make lifelong friends in all that I am doing. I will continue to do hunt tests, and also am considering Rally too. My 8 yr. old daughter is an aspiring Junior Handler, and also wants to get into the Obedience tests. Here's hoping we can do it all!

Welcome to the forum Heather...nothing finer than a lab or 6... Looking forward to hearing more about your furkinds. Again, welcome!
Re: Hi, I just want to start with an intro!
Weclome! How did you do at the specialty? The HDLRC is a fun group of folks! It's a bit of a haul, but you should come to the Denver show next year!
Re: Hi, I just want to start with an intro!
The HDLRC did a fantastic job!! I will go back, and also the San Diego group is so welcoming, we were invited in to a potluck Sat. evening and met some more great people! This part makes it more worthwhile to get the dogs out!
I will come to Denver whenever I can, I wanted to this year, but didn't work out... My Yellow bitch was NOT competitive at a year old, so I am putting her up for a bit... she is out of 'Rush', and her mother is very nice(a CH too). So I can only be so lucky if she turns out as nice...
BUT, my chocolate boy did well for our first outing. He is out of 'Dauber' and a nice choco. mama with Bournhall/Tabatha/Dickendall type pedigree. Great coat and bone! Sat he took 4th in Sweeps and Regular 6-9, out 7 dogs. Sunday morn. I was not in the game, nor was he, so we missed the boat in Sweeps, but he did get 4th again in regular. So I was thrilled being a newbie and taking home some ribbons!! He is all legs right now but if he stays together, he will be fun to show! I hope to meet some of you as we venture out!

Hi Heather
Nice to see you found the forum. I am a newbie also.. not only to this forum, but to conformation. I was lucky to find a great group of people in Traverse City.

Thanks!
It is so important that we find the great people who are willing to help the newbies. I could never have gotten started if I didn't meet the right person. Now I have met a few more people, it is wonderful to be helped along. This forum will be fun to share in because of the more personal nature, the huge forums are great for learning, but I get tired of the negative attitudes and bickering afterwhile a little bit! Talk to you more soon!
